Background Questions:
1) What does your character do by daylight?
Following a career in academia, Orion now works as a guidance counselor, part-time librarian, and tutor at Everwave Academy.

2) What are they fighting for?
Orion's motivations for fighting stem from a deep seated sense of justice and a feeling of obligation to help those who need it if he was able to. Freedom is the right of all sentient beings, and all that.

3) Who matters most to them?

• Dr. Alfred Ryon, PhD – Orion’ mentor and professor at the local university. Dr. Ryon is a leader in his field, and early on saw potential in Orion and took him under his wing. The quintessential scholar and learned elder.
• Dr. Hercules "Herc" Tat, MD – Surgeon, roommate, closest friend. Herc and Orion have known each other since they were both freshmen in college. His gruff attitude belies his compassionate nature; he is always looking out for Orion, offering both support and sobering reality checks when needed. They wound up becoming roommates in college and to save on rent and just never bothered to change things up.
• Grant "The Gladiator" Kaon – "Part-time soulmate, full-time problem." A charismatic professional boxer, Grant and Orion had been dating for many years prior to a very messy public breakup after Orion finished grad school. Every so often Grant sends Orion passionate, aggressive messages. Despite the animosity, Orion still cares deeply for Grant and regrets how things played out between them.

4) How did they get to now?

• Originally from a smaller town/city known for local ruins, and was always interested in history/archival studies and culture. Probably had a normal family life but I’m not digging into it, because.
• Moved to Chalra City for school after receiving a substantial merit scholarship, where he met future friend and roommate Herc Tat.
• There he met Dr. Ryon and became an unofficial apprentice of sorts.
• Orion wound up in the same circles as Grant Kaon, a young professional boxer with an interest in politics. The two eventually started dating and would be together for several years.
• After graduating, Orion was immediately accepted into the college's masters program to continue his studies. This caused some friction with Grant, who had come to lead a small activist group but Orion found their methods to be too aggressive and bordering on violence.
• Shortly upon receiving his degree, Grant and Orion had an extremely messy and public breakup. It was bad.
• Choosing to remain in Chalra City, Orion continued his research on historical society, increasingly disheartened by the repeated corruption of history. Deciding to make a more active role in preventing those mistakes from being repeated, Orion switched from a purely academic life to a professor and librarian at Everwave Academy.
• At some point Orion transitioned away from teaching and into the role of a school counselor, providing career advice and future planning for students, in addition to helping those with difficult home lives or similar problems that would impact their success. Orion never stopped working in the library, and also tutors students on request.

Personality Questions:

1) What would make your character happiest or fulfilled?
Orion believes the world can eventually be a better one than it is now, one that allows everyone the equality and freedom they deserve. While he knows he may never see that come to pass, seeing progress towards that goal through his own actions or those of others, would give him the most fulfillment.

2) What does your character fear the most?
His greatest fear is not being able to protect those in his charge, either from forces that would do them harm or lead them down a wrong path or even themselves. Orion avoids forcing his will on others, but being unable to convince them to follow a better path is something that haunts him. This has only grown in scale since awakening as a Nova Knight.

3) What does your character think their greatest strength is? What is their actual greatest strength?
Orion would consider his greatest strength to be his experience and academic knowledge. His true strength, however, comes from his qualities as a leader: his steadfast nature, ability to inspire others, and willingness to make difficult decisions and take responsibility for the outcome, good or bad.

Awakening: Orion awoke to his powers after a dream of his past life, one which focused on fighting as a soldier. This may or may not have been preceded by one of Grant’s periodic taunting messages.

Past Life Questions:

1) What was their past life’s role on The Nashira? What kind of life did they lead on Hassaleh before their exodus?
An aster hailing from a region in proximity of the capital. Originally a scholar, with the arrival of the Abyss and subsequent war for the planet Optimus joined the region's militia. During the fighting Optimus gained authority and respect as a general, and was well known for treating all soldiers equally no matter their origin.

Following the exodus from Hassaleh, Optimus was one of the first to adapt to the changing social order, using his position as a commander to appeal to constellations. He came to be seen as a leader and protector amongst the crew and community of the Nashira. His dying wish was that their people could find a place where they would be free of the suffering brought on by the Abyss.

He had an annoying little brother named Rodimus.

2) What, if anything, about their past life has echoes in their current life?
Orion's relationship with Grant is similar to one from his past life. During the war while serving in militia, Optimus became close with another aster. A powerful warrior who motivated those around with, including Optimus himself, the two fought alongside one another throughout the war.

Once aboard the Nashira, as the strict class divisions became a point of contention the two developed differing opinions on how to address it. While Optimus sought to find a balance between between Constellations and Asters, his friend concluded this was the best opportunity to be rid of the aristocracy of the Constellations. The two were odds for a long time, conflicts and deconflictions occurring more frequently than not. As his friend began to gain follows and his ideology started to spread, Optimus was forced to take action against him, leading to his arrest.

3) What was their past life's dying wish?
"I wish I could have seen them to a new home."
